It's Time We Talked!

We’ve Been Busy Offline (But It’s Time We Talked Online)

By Hazel Mukwedeya | May 12, 2026 | 2 Minute Read

The Secret is Out.

If you’ve walked into the Friendship Bench Hub over the past year, you know the truth: we’ve been busy. For the last 15 months, this physical space has been alive. We’ve watched strangers become friends over coffee, we’ve seen heavy burdens lifted in our Offline Circle, and we’ve seen the garden bloom both literally and metaphorically.

But if you visited this website? It was... quiet.

That wasn't an oversight. We were deeply focused on establishing this space as a sanctuary for intentional healing in person, ensuring our foundation was strong before sharing the experience with our online family.

That changes today. Consider this post our official "Digital Housewarming." While the doors to the Hub have been open for over a year, we are finally opening the doors to this blog. Why Now, you ask? What better way to celebrate our first anniversary! The Hub is more than just a location in Harare; it is a living, breathing experiment in community care. There are too many incredible stories, insights, and moments happening here to keep them to ourselves.

Starting this month, this blog will be your window into the Hub.

We’ll be sharing:

  • Mental Health Toolkits: Evidence-based tips from our psychologists and mentors that you can use at home.

  • The "What Happened": Recaps of our markets, movie nights, and workshops.

  • Community Voices: Stories from the people who make the Hub what it is... YOU.

For The Newcomers & The Regulars If you’ve been with us since we opened our doors, thank you. You helped us create the "aesthetic", a culture of warmth, acceptance, and safety that defines our space.

If you haven’t visited yet: What are you waiting for? Here is a reminder of the services that have defined our first year. Which one does your mind need this week?

  • For the "Always On": The silent disco has been our community’s favorite way to disconnect. No signals, just peace.

  • For the "Stuck": Our free counselling services. Accessible to anyone who needs to clear or open their mind.

  • For the "Seekers": Complementary wellness approaches like yoga and meditation. We continue to offer diverse paths to mental well-being.

Since we’re finally online... let’s chat. We want this blog to be a two-way conversation, not just a noticeboard. As we plan our calendar for the rest of 2026, we want to hear from you first.

THE DEBUT POLL: What brought you to the Hub (or what would bring you)? Comment below with your answer:

  • "I need the Community." (Events, markets, coffee, and chatting).

  • "I need the Quiet." (Meditation, library time, and solo reflection).

  • "I need the Tools." (Workshops, therapy sessions, and learning).

Your answers will help us prioritize our upcoming content!

Join the Digital Launch.

We are celebrating the launch of this blog with a challenge for our physical visitors. Come by the Hub this week, snap a photo of your favorite spot, and tag us @friendshipbenchhub. We will be featuring our first round of "Hubsters" on our socials!

It’s been an incredible first year offline. We can’t wait to spend the next one with you online, too.

Welcome to The Hub.
